Africa's Premier Aviation Hub. Modernized.
Foundation for Ethiopia's $12.5 billion Bishoftu mega-hub — 110 million passengers by 2030.
Pilot deployment of integrated border management at Africa's premier aviation hub — establishing the foundation for Ethiopia's $12.5 billion Bishoftu mega-hub.
Master System Integrator deployment across five platform modules at Africa's busiest aviation hub.
Atlas Innovative Systems, operating as the Master System Integrator (MSI), is deploying a comprehensive integrated border management solution at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport — the primary hub of Ethiopian Airlines and the busiest airport in East Africa. This flagship engagement encompasses the full spectrum of AIS platform capabilities, delivering an end-to-end modernization of passenger processing, security screening, and border control operations.
The deployment includes pilot implementation of five core platform modules: API/PNR targeting and risk assessment, Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) with multi-modal biometrics, automated eGates for seamless passenger clearance, a unified Command & Control center, and enterprise management for operational governance. This project represents Phase 1 of the broader national border infrastructure program supporting the $12.5 billion Bishoftu International Airport mega-hub — a Zaha Hadid-designed facility projected to serve 110 million passengers annually by 2030.
The Bole Airport deployment has delivered transformative results for Ethiopian border operations. Passenger processing time has been reduced by 40%, with average clearance now under 12 seconds at biometric eGates. The integrated API/PNR targeting system screens 100% of arriving and departing passengers against national and international watchlists in real time, significantly enhancing threat detection while maintaining frictionless throughput for legitimate travelers.
The system is fully compliant with ICAO Annex 9 facilitation standards and IATA One ID specifications, positioning Ethiopia as a regional leader in aviation security modernization. The Command & Control center provides unified situational awareness across all terminal zones, reducing incident response times by over 60%. This successful pilot deployment has established the operational foundation and proven architecture for the national border management rollout, including the Bishoftu mega-hub program.
